Great Works of the Pharaohs Comic Life Project

Note! Actively read all directions. Do not skim or make assumptions about directions. If you don’t understand, then you should ask.

Imagine that you are a writer of graphic novels who has spent several weeks in Egypt touring some of the monuments built by the pharaohs in ancient times. You now want to encourage people to visit three of the sites you saw to learn about the accomplishments of the pharaohs.

Use Comic Life, what you learned on your tour, and the ideas you recorded in your notes to create a comic describing three important sites along the Nile River that you think people should see. You must select one site from each of the three historical periods in ancient Egyptian history: the Old Kingdom, the Middle Kingdom, and the New Kingdom. follow these guidelines:

  1. Give your comic an interesting and catchy title
  2. Create your comic for an adult audience that has never been to Egypt
  3. Page one should be an introduction to what the pharaohs were and why the monuments they constructed were important or impressive.
  4. Include a separate page for each of the three sites you are going to illustrate. Each page should include:
  • interesting visuals (they can come from the internet but you must cite them in a bibliography page at the end of the comic)
  • a description of the site and one of the monuments that can be seen there
  • a description of the pharaoh who built the site, the time period during which he/she ruled, and why it was built

So your comic willl have four (4) to five (5) pages total (i.e. Introduction page, three pages on three sites and perhaps a bibliography).

Be creative in the creation of your comic. Save the comic to your desktop. Do not upload the comic until instructed to do so.
